What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary holistic therapy that encourages relaxation alongside body balance and healing. Gentle finger or thumb pressure is applied to specific points on the feet, hands or ears, following the theory that the body is mapped on these. These points are called reflexes and by stimulating them a practitioner aims to support health and well-being.

Foot reflexology

Reflexology is a way for someone to invest in their wellbeing and self-care, as it allows time away from the world, time to be in the moment and have some personal time in a safe space. A 60-minute foot treatment will involve working on the feet individually and bi-laterally (together).

Hand reflexology

Hand reflexology is a good option if the client can’t/doesn’t want their feet touched. A therapeutic technique based on the concept that hands contain reflex points corresponding to organs and body systems. Hand reflexology offers a caring touch and opportunities to learn self-help techniques.

Auricular (Ear) reflexology

Auricular (Ear) reflexology can produce quick results, due to the nerve connections to the brain. It can be used alone or as part of a combined treatment with feet or hands.

As part of this treatment, I also offer medicinal ear seeds. These are small, hard and round, and are placed on reflex points to help reinforce the effects post-treatment.

Reflexology supports the mind-body connection through the relaxation element of the treatment, which can be felt in all areas of the body. A reflexologist does not claim to diagnose or cure; however, reflexology treatment benefits include:

Relaxation

Release of tension

Improved sleep

Improved mood

Increase wellbeing
